Specialty's (Fab Spec's)
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Quality System and Organization
Fabrication Specialty has a quality assurance organization which includes requirements
of Mil-I-45208A and are approved by U.S. Government DCMAO.
Fab Spec's management periodically reviews the quality assurance system for
its effectiveness and makes changes when necessary.
Fab Spec's QA organization is functionally independent of our production department.
QA has direct access to upper management.
Fab Spec publishes and maintains QA manuals and procedures which are approved
by management. Our last major manual revision was February 24, 2006.
Measuring, testing and
inspection
Fab Spec's quality program is based around Mil-I-45208 and "Accept on
Zero and Reject on One".
All Quality Assurance and Inspection personnel have access to applicable gauges
and tools.
Fab Spec as well as employee owned gauges and tools are controlled, calibrated
and maintained per applicable quality assurance procedures with applicable records
maintained as well.
Fab Spec's calibration system is coordinated with the quality assurance program.
All calibrations are performed, in a controlled environment, by comparison with
higher accuracy standards.
Fab Spec has written procedures for calibrating measuring and testing equipment.
Historical records of calibration are maintained and reflect the item's number
and name, calibration frequency, date of latest calibration and date due, personnel
performing calibration and signature, calibration test report number and results
of any out of tolerance conditions.
Fab Spec's system provides for any mandatory recalls based on stability, designed
use and degree of usage.
Fab Spec's system requires the evaluation of sources providing its calibration
services.
Fab Spec's calibration system standard conforms to the following: NIST, ISO
17025, ANSI/NCSL 2540-1, ISO 10012-1.
Fab Spec has adopted a sampling plan which is called "EQ001MOD" for
in-process and final inspection. We have instituted an "accept on zero
reject on one". With the reject on "one" plan, 100% of that particular
dimensional characteristic will be inspected. The sampling plan "EQ001MOD"
has been implemented to make an attempt at zero defects in quality assurance.
